Why This Page Exists

This page explains exactly what the site stores on your device, what is measured in each consent state, and how to change your choice later. It is written to match what the site actually does, not a generic template.

Your Choice

When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept optional cookies. Your answer is stored in your browser’s local storage under the key gd_consent, so the site remembers it on your next visit. You can change your mind at any time using the Manage cookies link in the footer, which reopens the banner.

This is not a cookie wall. Declining leaves the whole site usable, including every comparison and review.

What Is Stored in Each State

Before you choose, and if you decline

  • Strictly necessary storage only. Your consent choice itself, and the technical data needed to serve the page.
  • No analytics or advertising cookies are set. Nothing is stored that identifies you or your device.
  • Aggregate, cookieless pageview measurement continues. This is Google Consent Mode v2 behaviour: anonymous, aggregated pings with no cookies and no user-level tracking. It tells us a page was visited, not who visited it.

If you accept

  • Analytics cookies are set (Google Analytics 4) so we can see which comparisons are useful, how readers move between them, and where people leave.
  • Affiliate click events are recorded when you follow a link to Crocoblock, so we know which pages earn commission. The event records the page and link, not your identity.
  • Consent is signalled to Google for advertising, analytics, functionality and personalisation storage. Ad storage is enabled as part of Consent Mode v2, though this site does not run advertising campaigns or sell data.

Cookies This Site Uses

The table below lists the storage the site uses and what each one is for.

Name Type Purpose Set when
gd_consent Local storage Remembers your accept/decline choice When you answer the banner
_ga, _ga_* Analytics Google Analytics 4: distinguishes visits so usage can be measured Only after you accept
_gcl_au Analytics Google advertising conversion measurement Only after you accept

Strictly necessary storage does not require consent because without it the site cannot function or remember your choice. It stores no personal data.

Security and Spam Protection

Google reCAPTCHA may be used on forms to prevent automated submissions. It is a security measure rather than a tracking cookie, so it runs without consent. Its use is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.

Third-Party Links

Links to Crocoblock and to competing vendors take you to their sites, which have their own cookies and privacy policies. We do not control what they store once you leave this site.

Changing Your Choice or Withdrawing Consent

Open the Manage cookies link in the footer and choose Decline. This withdraws consent immediately. Cookies already set can be cleared at any time through your browser’s settings, which also clears the stored choice.
